A Blue moon is rare occurrence – this happens when two full moons appear in one calendar month. This month of June, the blue moon will appear in the sky on June 30 after the first full moon last June 1.

A much appreciated event by astronomy enthusiasts all over the world, the bluemoon is continually romanticized in movies, songs; and literature, though it has nothing to do with the moon turning “blue”.

Since this is a rare event – last occurring in 2004 – it has been popularly used in the phrase “once in a blue moon”. The best place to witness the blue moon is by visiting a location with a high altitude since artificial light from streetlights, vehicles and billboards can obstruct the view.

One of the best locations is the Seven Suites Hotel Observatory in Antipolo City – it is not only near the metropolis and accessible but also has an in-house astronomer Ramon Acevedo, who will provide guests with more interesting trivia about the cosmic world.

Under the helm of Blue Moon’s dynamic menu is 27-year-old Billy Cabal, a young and passionate chef who has made the food experience worth the trip to the hilltop hotel. A graduate of the prestigious Center for Culinary Arts, Manila (CCA, Manila), Chef Billy pursued a career in the food business over another passion which is film when he realized that he can express his creativity in the kitchen too.

From an existing menu that comprised mainly of American food, Chef Billy expanded it to include Southwestern and Italian dishes such as stone-baked pizzas and pasta.

Blue Moon’s casual ambiance features fixtures and furniture that exude a touch of elegance and class. Interesting abstract works from noted painter Jonah Salvosa hang on the walls and complement the cozy ambience.
