The room amenities are nothing mind-blowing. Really quite simple and practical, nothing fancy-schmancy. But the Seven Suites Hotel in Antipolo, Philippines claims to be the first and only hotel observatory in the country (hm, in fact, I haven’t encountered any anywhere either). Its roofdeck observatory has telescopes allowing hobbyists or romantics to gaze at the milky way… or at least the city lights, I guess, when the smog is impertubable. Oh well, if you’re not sure what and where you should be aiming the telescopes at, ask if their in-house astronomer, U.P. Professor Edmund Rosales, is available.

The rooms are practical and chow is cheap. Buffets start at less than $3 and offers All You Can Eat (Soup, salad, pizza, pasta, sandwich, ice cream and dessert) for less than 5 bucks (250 pesos).

Antipolo is on the outskirts of Manila, so if you’re wondering what else you can do in Antipolo, read Elizabeth Lolarga’s account of her Antipolo exploration. Hinulugang Taktak National Park, Via Dolorosa, pottery and art galleries, the Pacem Eco-park, and a rub-down at The Spa of the Callos Farm Resort all makes up to an eventful stay in Antipolo!
