Seven Suites Hotel-Observatory in Antipolo City has prepared for what astronomers predict will be one of the best meteor showers this year, the Perseids shower. This spectacular star show will occur on the night of Aug. 12, 2002.

The hotel provides a unique experience of stargazing as it is equipped with a powerful telescope on its roof deck.

Professor Edmund Rosales of the UP Observatory and in-house astronomer of the Seven Suites Hotel-Observatory said that to spot the coming Perseids shower, one must look out for bright yellow meteors emanating from the constellation Perseus in the Northeast. Another indicator is the constellation Cassiopeia, a group of stars noticeable for forming the letter M, from which the meteors can also be seen.

A spectacular night show is anticipated since the enormous shower of stars will appear bright and awesome against the dark moonless sky.

Rosales added that the Perseids shower promises to be one of the best this year. Two more incredible meteor showers are anticipated in November and December. Fair weather will further enhance this rare phenomenon as a sight to see for children and adults alike.

On the evening of the Perseids shower, guests at the Seven Suites Hotel-Observatory will be invited to bring their pillows and lounge on the roof deck sofas. Hot chocolate, coffee and home-baked pastries will be served to keep guests warm. The hotel astronomer will also assist guests during their stargazing. Children can also read storybooks and enjoy a complimentary activity kit in a cozy, air-conditioned cove of the roof deck.
